School Supply

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Christian Education Committee is responsible for implementing educational programs and childcare on 4 different levels. There is nursery time that allows parents to attend the service. We have a Sunday School with two different age groups, pre-school–2nd grade and 3rd–6th grades). The church also offers a confirmation class for children in the 7th and 8th grades. Finally, we have a high school class for those that completed confirmation class and are going to be making the transition from the classroom to regular church attendance. We hold a number of activities for the kids such as VBS, the CROP Walk, Easter Egg hunts, Trunk-or-Treats, and, of course, our Christmas Eve Programs.

Women Holding Hands

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

Our mission is to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study. We support the mission of the church worldwide, work for justice and peace, and build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and serves as witness to the promise of God’s kingdom. We enjoy fellowship and carry out missions and goals set before us by the Coordinating Team Leaders.
For the past 21 years we have hosted an annual retreat in Wildwood. We have sponsored Trunk or Treat for the community and are proud to have three monthly Circle Bible studies—two evening groups and one daytime group—that are available to all women.
We also are blessed to support international, national and local mission projects.

MISSION COMMITTEE

The First Presbyterian Church of Somerdale reaches out locally, nationally and internationally, even during the pandemic, to support and send aid to those in need. Locally, we support the Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council and Urban Promise and make modest contributions to Presbyterian Homes and Princeton Scholarships; nationally and internationally, we support Church World Services missionary Dr. Karla Koll; and through Presbyterian Mission, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program, and Self-Development of People program. Please see our Missions page for the current missions being supported by the church.
